Otter drowns after getting tangled in trousers thrown by zookeepers

An otter called Logan drowned at a zoo after getting caught in a pair of trousers. What’s even more baffling is that it received the slacks from employees at Calgary Zoo. Logan, 12, died in the special otter pool at the animal park in Canada. Colleen Baird, general curator at the zoo, confirmed the death. “Logan got trapped in one of the legs and he drowned,” she said. “It was human error and we take animal deaths very seriously.” The two members of staff who gave the otter the trousers were disciplined but kept their jobs. But it was still unclear why the employees gave the animal the clothing in the first place. Calgary Zoo will apparently use the tragedy as a teachable moment by reminding its workers about safety.
